Devlog 07: Moody Lights and Bat Powers!

Hey Again!

How are you?

We are doing good! We're happy this week because of 2 things.
1) The sun has been shining outside again :)
and 2) we have made some nice progress on the game! Let us talk you through what we did!

More.. More? More!! (props)

We added even more background asset! You can spot these new doors and chairs in the mansion. Even though we still have some extra props to make in the next weeks, we are slowly but surely filling the mansion up! It's getting cozy in here :)

Snazzy Lighting

The lighting got a big update! Because it impacts a lot and isn't just an afterthought, we really needed to do this properly for once.. We removed the old placeholder lights and put in candlelight everywhere. The warm glow make the mansion feel more mysterious and perfect for vampires who can't feel sunlight. It’s a big change and we like it a lot.

The candles even flicker a little bit! Here we amplified the effect for ease of viewing, but it will be a lot more subtle in-game..

Vampiric Assets!!

All the vampire items are almost finished! All these red-colored, super obviously vampiric items will need to be smuggled out! It looks nice seeing everything stacked together, I hope you can do the same while playing!

Beware of the AI!

Enemy AI is now working in the level. The models are implemented and the AI is moving around in the level, not in their own testing area anymore. Their placement and paths are still not final, but you're able to play with them already. We are excited to keep improving this.

Player Polish!

We also worked on adding some extra player feedback and movement/coffin handling polish like having the coffin tilt when only grabbing it with 1 person.

BatWomen?!

You can now turn into a bat! This mechanic will help you escape from enemies and fly behind cover. We hope it adds that extra special something to the gameplay!
